CSIR-IIIM Jammu, in association with the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), organised an awareness lecture on Breast Cancer Screening & Breast Self-Awareness to mark National Surgeons Day & Surgeons Week.
The programme featured opening remarks by Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Bhasin, Professor & Head, Postgraduate Department of Surgery, Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, who highlighted the importance of surgeon wellbeing, public health outreach and preventive healthcare initiatives.The awareness lecture was delivered by Dr. Rajini Bhardwaj, Assistant Professor, Department of Surgery, GMC Jammu, who emphasised the importance of breast self-awareness, early detection and timely screening in improving treatment outcomes and reducing breast cancer-related mortality.Addressing the gathering, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM Jammu, highlighted the importance of strengthening collaboration between scientific institutions and medical colleges in line with the vision of Hon’ble Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, with a focus on connecting research, healthcare and public awareness.The session witnessed participation from scientists, faculty members, students and staff, reinforcing the message that awareness and early action remain key to better health outcomes.Together, let us build a healthier and more aware society.
