Srinagar, Oct 8: Infiltration attempts by terrorists from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir have largely failed due to the alertness of security forces and the deployment of advanced surveillance technology along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir, a senior BSF officer said on Wednesday.
Inspector General, BSF Kashmir Frontier, Ashok Yadav, said that while intelligence inputs indicate the presence of terrorists at launch pads across the LoC, enhanced vigilance has prevented any successful infiltration.
“The way BSF and Army have dominated the LoC through alertness and use of modern surveillance gadgets has ensured that infiltration attempts have not succeeded,” Yadav told reporters.
He said that with winter just two months away, infiltration attempts may continue, but “due to our area domination, we will ensure any attempt is detected and neutralised.”
The BSF officer said around 100–120 terrorists are believed to be present at the launch pads at any given time, though the number keeps changing.
“All the terrorists at these launch pads are foreigners,” he said.
On reports of Lashkar-e-Toiba aligning with the Islamic State, Yadav said the development is being closely analysed by intelligence agencies. “Based on that analysis, we plan operations jointly with all security forces. It is in our knowledge, and we are taking countermeasures,” he added.
