New Delhi, May 3: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has ordered the immediate suspension of 26 MBBS students and annulled the admissions of 14 others for the 2024-25 academic year after they were found to have used unfair means during the NEET-UG 2024 exam, according to an official source.
NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a nationwide examination for students aspiring to enter medical colleges across India.
As part of a broader investigation into the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak, multiple agencies, including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), have been involved. The National Testing Agency (NTA) identified several instances of malpractice, leading to the three-year debarment (2024–2026) of 42 candidates and a two-year ban (2025–2026) on another nine.
Currently, the candidatures of 215 NEET-UG 2024 examinees have been placed under review pending further inquiry.
The disciplinary measures are based on CBI findings, and the NMC has instructed medical colleges to enforce the suspensions without delay. Emphasizing its zero-tolerance stance on academic misconduct, the NMC reiterated its commitment to ensuring integrity and transparency in the medical admission process.
This move comes just ahead of the NEET-UG 2025 exam, scheduled for May 4.
