Jammu & Kashmir Police’s Honesty Praised: Returns Lost Rs 10,000 to Pilgrim

Over 11,000 Pilgrims Pay Obeisance to Ice Shivlingam

On the 21st day of the annual pilgrimage, more than 11,000 yatris from across the country visited the naturally formed Ice Shivlingam in a Himalayan cave located in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The pilgrimage, which began on June 29, has seen a total of 3,74,603 pilgrims so far, with today’s count reaching 11,231.

Officials reported that the weather in the cave shrine area remained partially cloudy throughout the day, with heavy rain occurring in the evening after the yatra had concluded for the day. Despite the weather challenges, the pilgrimage is proceeding smoothly under tight security arrangements.

In a heartwarming display of honesty, Jammu and Kashmir Police returned Rs 10,000 to a female pilgrim who had lost her purse near the holy cave today, earning praise from fellow yatris and staff alike.

The pilgrimage, set to conclude on Shravan Purnima coinciding with the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan on August 19, continues to attract pilgrims who are appreciative of the arrangements made by the J&K Government, Shrine Board, and various Langar organizations en route.
