Apple begins hiring employees for physical stores in India

After a long delay caused due to pandemic, the tech giant Apple is opening its physical stores in India this year, and reportedly the company has begun hiring staff for retail stores at “different places” throughout the nation.

According to The Financial Times, Apple is reportedly employing technological experts, business experts, senior managers, and store leaders, for its retail operations in  the nation.

The new job advertisement suggests that 12 retail positions are now available at different locations throughout the country, according to Apple’s most recent job advertisements.

Numerous job postings mention flagship retail operations specifically.

“The Apple Store is a retail environment like no other—uniquely focused on delivering amazing customer experiences,” according to one such description.

“Apple’s head of recruiting in India, Renu Sevanthi, celebrated several of the announcements on the social networking site,”  said the report that came out late on Sunday.

According to the report, at least five employees in Mumbai and New Delhi posted on LinkedIn that they had been hired for retail store operations. However, Apple did not respond to the report’s details right away.

A 22,000-square-foot Apple store is apparently going to open in Mumbai at the beginning of this year.

Apple CEO Tim Cook stated in January 2021 that the country’s online store had received a resounding reaction and that the business was prepared to open retail locations there in the future.

With a 40% market share in India’s premium market, Apple was in first place, followed by Samsung and OnePlus, which in the third quarter of 2018 registered the biggest shipment share ever in the nation.

According to Counterpoint Research, Apple’s 5% market share in India’s smartphone market during the quarter was its best ever due to a significant channel push ahead of the holiday season.

Data from business intelligence platform Tofler shows that Apple India recorded a net profit of Rs 1,263 crore in the fiscal year, up 3% from the previous year thanks to higher sales.
