DC Reasi reviews preparedness for summer season Calls for proactive measures for medical emergencies amid rising temperature

REASI, APRIL 28: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek chaired a meeting to review preparedness of departments for summer season, particularly effective management of Heatwave amid rising temperatures.A comprehensive assessment of departmental readiness was undertaken, with emphasis on a coordinated and proactive response. The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to remain alert, respond promptly to IMD advisories and strengthen mitigation measures including establishment of dedicated cool rooms in hospitals, equipping ambulances for heat-related emergencies and regulating working hours where necessary. He stressed ensuring uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply, maintaining adequate stocks of ORS and essential medicines across health facilities and intensifying public awareness on heatstroke prevention, particularly for children and the elderly. He also called for provision of water for livestock, issuance of safety advisories for outdoor workers, organization of awareness camps and strengthening of fire and forest safety measures.The Education Department was advised to regulate school timings and implement safeguards for students during peak heat conditions. The Jal Shakti Department and Municipal Committees were directed to ensure uninterrupted and accessible drinking water facilities, with special focus on tourist locations. The Jal Shakti Department was further tasked with monitoring water supply schemes and preparing contingency plans, including water tanker deployment, while the Power Development Department was directed to ensure stable power supply during peak hours. The Police Department was directed to maintain strict vigil at checkpoints and ensure availability of fluids to assist persons in distress, particularly during heat wave conditions and cases of heat stroke.The Animal Husbandry Department was instructed to create awareness regarding livestock care during heat wave conditions and ensure availability of veterinary medicines.The Deputy Commissioner called for intensified IEC campaigns to disseminate precautionary measures among the public and directed all departments to issue detailed advisories and submit their respective Heat Wave Action Plans for effective management.ADC Rakesh Kumar, ACR Nitin Verma, CMO, ACD, XEN Jal Shakti and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
