Jammu Police, South Zone Strikes Big: Two Excavators Seized in Major Illegal Mining Crackdown at River Tawi under Operation Ploughing

Jammu Police, South Zone Strikes Big: Two Excavators Seized in Major Illegal Mining Crackdown at River Tawi under Operation Ploughing Jammu: Reaffirming its commitment to combat illegal mining under “Operation Ploughing”, Jammu Police, South Zone has seized two excavators (poclain machines) engaged in unlawful extraction of minerals from the River Tawi. The seizure was made by Police Post (PP) Belicharana, acting swiftly under the supervision of senior officers.Following clear directions from the SSP Jammu and under the supervision of SP City South and SDPO South, police team of PP Belicharana intercepted the excavators during their illegal operations. Upon inquiry, the machines were found to be functioning without valid authorization, causing significant harm to the river ecosystem and resulting in the loss of valuable natural resources. The District Mineral Officer (DMO) Jammu has been informed accordingly, and appropriate legal action is underway.Jammu Police continues to adopt a zero-tolerance approach against illegal mining to safeguard the environment. Through such decisive actions, the police remains committed to preventing ecological degradation and holding offenders accountable.The efforts of Jammu Police have received appreciation from the local community, with residents acknowledging the proactive measures taken to protect natural resources. Citizens are encouraged to report any instances of illegal mining to ensure collective responsibility in preserving the environment.
